Staying Afloat | Original Gouache Painting

Maine is one of those places that refills my cup. It's a place to slow down, be in nature, and breathe a little deeper. I see inspiration everywhere. I literally saw these buoys across the way and crossed the street to take a reference photo. Not only do the colorful, rustic buoys appeal to me aesthetically, but also they remind me that we need to take steps to keep ourselves afloat amidst the busyness of life - taking the trips, turning off the noise, going offline, and stealing those small moments with family and loved ones. This piece strives to capture the simplicity and beauty of a place that values slow living and nature. 
 
Staying Afloat is an original gouache painting inspired by the colorful, weathered buoys that adorn the coastal towns of Maine, making them one of the "Maine things" there. 
 
With their rustic charm and vibrant colors, these familiar markers are more than a quintessential part of the Maine coastline—they can also serve as a quiet reminder of resilience. Like the buoys that remain above the water despite the tides and currents around them, we, too, find ways to stay afloat through the moments that threaten to pull us under.
 
Staying Afloat is a celebration of perseverance, resilience, and the things—big and small—that keep us grounded when the waters get rough.
 
The image, measuring approximately 5"x7," is matted with a white mat and can be framed with a white or light oak 8"x10" glass frame. It comes finished with the artist's signature and certificate, ensuring its authenticity. 
 
Note: Paper has small, thin repaired tear, but it is barely visible, especially when framed.
