A Pair of Poppies

As the winter months dragged out, I yearned for color.  As with happiness, joy, and many other elements of life, sometimes we have to create our own. After a few weeks of layering paints with only a loose idea of where I was headed, I let it unfold, mixing in some imitation gold leaf so catch the light as it interacts with the space. I layered the paint softly in the background and used thicker texture in the forefront to create contrast.  

 

The result? A companion set of richly layered abstract landscapes inspired by wild poppy fields, shifting light, and the quiet atmosphere of open spaces. This pair can be displayed vertically or horizontally.
